This tumultuous century, the Romanian nation has covered a meandering path, marked by the two world wars, the confluence of the great powers’ interests, and the succession of social orders in Romania, managing though to achieve the identity profile of a relevant actor on the stage of national and international defence and security. Like the people they are part of, the army had bright or half-shade moments, but it constantly did and still does its duty, representing a pillar of stability, confidence and hope for the Romanian people.

Deep down in the collective memory, there are facts and places like: Marasesti, Marasti and Oituz, Oarba de Mures, Carei, the Danube-Black Sea Canal, Transfagarasan, Angola, Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Kosovo.

The Romanian Armed Forces’ participation in the consolidation of our country’s way to NATO and the EU was an extremely arduous process, unfolding in a complex environment marked by continuous transformations and unpredictability. However, the Romanian Armed Forces succeeded in carrying their missions, both in the theatres of operations and in the country, along with our allies and partners, thus contributing to the transformation of Romania from a security beneficiary into a security provider.
