Emil Hurezeanu: The very existence of Romania is a ”mystery“ and a ”miracle“

The historian of the re-unification family, Gheorghe Bratianu, used to say that the very existence of Romania is a ”mystery“ and a ”miracle“. And now my personal, though somewhat simplified translation of this: Mystery, since after the withdrawal of the Roman legions, we were stranded in hundreds of years of solitude. Miracle, since starting with the foundation of the Greater Romania in 1918, we’re celebrating 100 years of communion. Let’s keep together the miracle and the mystery, irrespective of the interpretation any of us could give to it!
