Those who shed their blood during War World I had no way to foresee that their descendants would live in a bigger country than that in which they were born.

Those who sacrificed themselves on the battlefield during the War World II did not imagine that their descendants would live the terror of a totalitarian regime.

The love of the homeland (caritas patriae), inscribed in our hearts by God belongs to the charity order and is called common good. In 1989 this common good was called democracy. Both the unity gained in 1918 and the democracy won in 1989 were not the result of the effort of some parties or of the great powers, but of a large majority of the Romanian society.
