Simona Miculescu: Romania is and will be our first and last love

We celebrate 100 years since there is only one Romania, one body and one soul – a beautiful soul, a vibrant amalgam of sighs, moans, smiles, cries of victory, words of longing, weeping, doinas, whispers of love, child laughter, fighting exhortations, echoes of inspiring diplomatic speeches … A soul that should be loved much more, with all one’s might!

The centenary of Romania is the moment when we have the chance to reaffirm the deep values that unite or should unite us: love of our homeland, consideration for our traditions, respect for the identity of other peoples, freedom and dignity, social responsibility, trust in democracy, trust in the rule of law.

The Centenary of Romania is the time to piously remember those who loved their homeland so much that they sacrificed their lives for it. It also represents the perfect opportunity for us to become more sympathetic, more united, more prosperous and more confident in ourselves and in the future. At its 100 years anniversary, Romania reverberates the spiritual energy of the forefathers, Romania is the consciousness of our eternal devotion, Romania is and will be our first and last love.
