I laid my heart in the palm of the Romanians’ hand, that heart of mine divided into the 22 pipes of the pan flute, through which tears of despair flow in the doina or laughter, in the Romanian folk dances. I was the spokesman for my country through the sound, and I enjoyed the appreciation of the whole planet, but I do not know if I was correctly understood by my people. What I do know for sure is that Romania of the past 100 years remains the vibration of my creative inspiration, in the absence of which I would not have existed as an artist.
